My first Christmas card made it to the receiver today! Yep, one day after I sent it! It was local but still surprising since local mail can take a week to get places in town sometimes. I am guessing I made the days maildrop cut off yesterday. That means that most my Christmas cards are currently on the way to people...except for the few I sent today that were to people who emailed me to tell me that they sent cards.

I got Christmas cards from [livejournal.com profile] goddessofchaos today (it spent the night on the ground outside due to my dad being crap on bringing the mail in and dropping things.) and from Marina in Belgium. I already have Christmas cards from Birna in Iceland (my first card of the season) and Maz in England. I am pondering doing a list of cards I have received here in my LJ so I can keep track better. I think I will after I finish this entry.

I spent most the day snuggled in the comforter since the temp only got up to 20 (F) today. We are suppose to drop down to highs in the teens for the next week but be dry without snow except for a dusting here and there. Such a big change form last year when we were already housebound for the holidays by now when we got over 12 feet of snow in a 24 hour period and more over the days after. Still, the cold temps make me want to snuggle in the comforter and read...not do anything important.

I have started on the 3rd season of LOST and am enjoying it. The 5th season is to come out on DVD next week and I pre-ordered it months ago so will be watching for it to turn up in the mail. It will be fun to get my mind refreshed on what went on and ready for the season premiere in Feb.

I am currently reading Naked Empire (a book in the Sword of Truth series) by Terry Goodkind. I am nearing the end of this series and have enjoyed it though it does get a bit "preachy" here and there. I have many poeple telling me I need to check out Soulless by Gail Carriger. It is suppose to be an interesting new vampire/supernatural novel series so I am definitely going to check it out.

Okay...time for me to head off into the world of the Internet and get some emails answered.

I made the trek to the post office and got my Christmas cards mailed. Still have a few "pending cards" I may send if I get cards from a few people. You may have guessed by my waiting that I haven't heard from some people in ages and am waiting to see if they are "still alive" so to speak. I still have a lot of stamps...I bought a TON of stamps to make sure to cover all the cards...so can relax and have a bit of fun. Maybe hit up people on [info]holiday_wishes who want to received Christmas cards. It would be fun to brighten someone's Christmas that way...especially with so many people losing jobs and having slim Christmas' because of the economy.

I did quite a bit of driving this afternoon and saw so many deer. The deer were really out in force today because it was overcast and very cold. We only got up to 25 (F) today and are to dip down to 0 tonight. I am starting to relax again when driving and this weekend and next week I will be driving more...and practicing parallel parking.

I got yet another person addicted to True Blood. My friend in California who was bored online and Immed me asking if I knew of any tv shows he could watch since he had seen all the ones he knew of and liked. I suggested True Blood and he is now hooked and can't wait for the new season. It's amusing to log on to IM and have a message from him saying something like "OMG! A big ass egg in the middle of the bed????" I makes me laugh.

I am almost doe with season 2 of LOST in my rewatch before the finale season starts in Feb. The show really got vastly better in the second season when Ben Linus was introduced and with all the happenings with the tail section survivors. I cannot wait to head on to the third season and watch it again.

I gifted myself again this Christmas season with these two items:

I love the read colour and the snakeprint pattern on the wallet.

And:

The red floral pattern will brighten up the winter wardrobe I have of greys, blacks, and browns.

So, I am looking forward to receiving both those two items in the mail. They also remind me I have a major wardrobe purge to do and probably should do it this weekend.

Anyway, off to get done with online stuff...so many emails and so many things to get caught up on. Hopefully something interesting will be waiting in my inboxes.

Cards from heaven have dead man talking

Tue Dec 25, 11:17 AM ET

ASHLAND, Ore. - Even in death, Chet Fitch is a card. Fitch, known for his sense of humor, died in October at age 88 but gave his friends and family a start recently: Christmas cards, 34 of them, began arriving — written in his hand with a return address of "Heaven."

The greeting read: "I asked Big Guy if I could sneak back and send some cards. At first he said no; but at my insistence he finally said, 'Oh well, what the heaven, go ahead but don't (tarry) there.' Wish I could tell you about things here but words cannot explain.

"Better get back as Big Guy said he stretched a point to let me in the first time, so I had better not press my luck. I'll probably be seeing you (some sooner than you think). Wishing you a very Merry Christmas. Chet Fitch"

A friend for nearly 25 years, Debbie Hansen Bernard said, "All I could think was, 'You little stinker.'"

"It was amazing," she said. "Just so Chet, always wanting to get the last laugh."

The mailing was a joke Fitch worked on for two decades with his barber, Patty Dean, 57. She told the Ashland Daily Tidings this week that he kept updating the mailing list and giving her extra money when postal rates went up. This fall, she said, Fitch looked up to her from the chair.

"You must be getting tired of waiting to mail those cards," he told her. "I think you'll probably be able to mail them this year."

He died a week later.

I got all my Christmas cards mailed to day except three.

Jannicke and Arwen, I am in the process of writing both of you letters to slip into the cards so they will be coming. :)

The other is a penpal who recontacted me through Facebook to ask for my address and send me a card. Very cool since I have been wondering about her.

So, I feel very accomplished to have gotten all my cards out. Now to see if they reach the destinations in time for Christmas.

Now, to edit my trip photos and finally get those posted.

I am halfway through writing my Christmas cards! The ones I have left to do are the ones I want to include an answering letter in and the US ones. Now to get them all mailed. Go me!

Still editing the San Diego photos. They should be up soonish and I will post some of them here as well.

I am feeling a bit accomplished.
